Source Protection Plan
The North Bay-Mattawa Source Protection Authority is in the process of completing a Section 36 Amendment to our Source Protection Plan and Assessment Report under the Clean Water Act. The current Source Protection Plan has been in place since July 1, 2015. The Minister provided an amended section 36 Order in May 2019 directing the Source Protection Authority to submit updates to the Source Protection Plan and related Assessment Report.
The Source Protection Committee has met several times to review the Source Protection Plan policies with the goal of addressing any implementation challenges and keeping the documents current with technical information, regulations and Ministry guidance.
Two rounds of pre-consultation have taken place with municipalities and implementing agencies. Documents below are documents that have went through a public consultation period.

Approved Source Protection Plan
The Source Protection Plan (SP Plan) contains policies to address all activities identified in the Assessment Report that could pose a threat to sources of drinking water. The objective is to ensure that such activities either never become or cease to be significant drinking water threats.
The SP Plan was prepared by the local multi-stakeholder Source Protection Committee as mandated by the Clean Water Act , 2006 and was approved by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change on March 5, 2015.

Source Protection Plan - Approval March 5, 2015
The approval of the North Bay-Mattawa Source Protection Plan was announced by the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change on March 5, 2015. The effective date for the Plan is July 1, 2015.
